KAVERS

Tradition and innovation bring Kabazaiku closer to you.

Kaba Zaiku is a traditional craft that has been passed down from generation to generation in Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture.

It is said that the technique was brought to Kakunodate from the Ani region in northern Akita Prefecture by the Satake Kita family at the end of the 18th century.

It is widely loved for its beauty and warmth as a natural material, and the one-of-a-kind appearance of the wild cherry tree bark that is used as the material has become a big attraction, and many products such as tea caddies and tea utensils have been produced.

The possibilities of Kabazaiku expand through collaboration

KAVERS has transformed Kabazaiku into a more familiar and familiar part of daily life by combining the old traditions of Kabazaiku with new techniques for creating delicate patterns.

By developing a new technology to process the material birch (wild cherry tree bark), we succeeded in creating delicate design patterns never seen before.

Wild cherry bark is pasted onto natural wood, engraved with traditional Japanese patterns, inlaid with traditional Japanese colors, metal powder, and mother-of-pearl, polished, and then painted with urethane.
