What is Kabazaiku?

Kaba Zaiku is a traditional craft that has been passed down from generation to generation in Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture.

It is said that the technique was brought to Kakunodate from the Ani region in northern Akita Prefecture by the Satake Kita family at the end of the 18th century.

It is widely loved for its beauty and warmth as a natural material, and the one-of-a-kind appearance of the wild cherry tree bark that is used as the material has become a big attraction, and many products such as tea caddies and tea utensils have been produced.

AAREA's commitment

AAREA's Wood clock series is made by removing and processing the wood to take advantage of the wood's unique characteristics (grain, knots, cracks, etc.).
