■What is Wenge ? A tree of the leguminous family native to Central Africa.
It takes a long time to dry and become usable as a material, but once it dries, it becomes a very stable material, so it is known as a high-quality material for building fittings and musical instruments.
The strong dark brown color and delicate brown striped pattern create a unique presence.
In Japan, it is also known as "Murasaki Tagayasan".

チーク、マホガニーと並ぶ世界三大銘木の一つで、紫色を帯びた赤褐色の木肌と艶、優美な木目、そして優れた加工性、それらすべてのバランスが見事に整った高級材です。
15世紀頃からイギリスなどで多く使われ、アンティーク家具の多くに同材が使用されているほか、現在では高級ホテルの内装としても親しまれています。
●ウェンジ
中央アフリカ原産のマメ科の樹木。乾燥し、材料として使えるようになるまで長い時間を必要としますが、一旦乾燥すると非常に安定した材質になるため、建具や楽器用の高級材として知られています。
力強い黒褐色と、繊細に並ぶ茶縞模様は唯一無二の存在感を醸し出します。日本では「ムラサキタガヤサン」の名称でも知られています。
